- Adapt the checklist to your specific equipment — add or remove items as needed
- Record actual readings (temperatures, pressures, amperage) — not just 'OK'
- Any 'fail' item should generate a work order immediately
- File completed checklists in the equipment maintenance history
- Use the data to identify trends — recurring issues indicate systemic problems
